Lagos. June 9, 2013: Over50mate.com, a newly launched website that connects local senior singles who are interested in dating again over the age of 50, says it is barring users from Nigeria and several other developing countries over alleged scam romance.
The site says it censors all profiles manually and bars membership from Nigeria, Philippines, Thailand and some other developing countries, “since most of romance scammers are from these countries”, according to a press statement.
The site also says that members under the age of 30 are not allowed on the dating platform created to help senior singles find love and companionship again.
Over50mate.com claims it has become popular between singles over 50 since its launch in May and attract majority of its members from the U.S.
Unlike other dating sites for seniors, Over50mate.com says it allows members to browse the site to find potential matches and show interests by sending ice-breaking winks before they upgrade to premium membership.
The site is managed by Successful Match, a company powering niche dating sites since 2001, and says that it is free to post a dating profile on Over50mate.com and view other member’s profiles and photos as well as reply to emails.
“This makes Over50mate.com popular between retired senior singles that don’t have regular income because many senior dating sites charge membership fee for searching local matches and showing interests. The site also has features that most senior dating sites have, such as blog, forum, fashion show photos, e-greeting cards, dating tips and advices, and live dating counselor”, according to the company.
Thanks for the great article… it is only Almighty God that will help the name (Nigeria) outside its nation.
