The app called Kaspersky Fake ID Scanner helps smartphone and tablet users scan their devices for vulnerabilities that put their valuable data, privacy and financials at risk.
According to Kaspersky Lab, one of the most notable Android’s new vulnerabilities is Fake ID. The vulnerability enables attackers to disguise any applications, including malicious, as legitimate programs developed by well-known vendors.
This vulnerability like the Master Key vulnerability, which enables cybercriminals to get access to any Android device with administrator privileges and launch software without the owner’s knowledge, are high risks to consumers, the tech security company warned.
Kaspersky Lab developed Kaspersky Fake ID Scanner to prevent Android vulnerabilities from being exploited. The tool enables Android device owners to scan their devices for vulnerabilities and safely determine that no applications that can exploit those vulnerabilities are installed on their devices.
If any threats are detected, the Fake ID Scanner prompts the user to install a free version of Kaspersky Internet Security for Android to remove the vulnerability. It will protect the device against malicious code regardless of the vulnerabilities exploited by the malware.
The application is compatible with Android 2.3 and later versions, and is available for download on Google Play Store.
