Nigeria’s identity manager agency is moving from the Presidency to the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, and this is official, Technology Times has just learnt.
Engr Aliyu Azizz, Director General of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has sent on official memo to employees of the ID agency of the relocation to its new supervisory Ministry, people conversant with the situation say.
The NIMC chief’s official confirmation ends the stalemate created by the earlier announcement by Dr Isa Ali Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy regarding the movement.
People close to NIMC have raised dust over Pantami’s announcement citing that the switch in supervision from Aso Villa to his Ministry should by civil service procedure have emanated from either the Secretary to the Government of The Federation or any of the President’s spokesmen.
Meanwhile, the DG of NIMC has informed his team that they’re moving to the Ministry, the source who spoke on condition of anonymity told Technology Times.
